Laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair with absorbable mesh: a systematic review

چکیده
Background: Laparoscopic repair is the standard of care for patients with paraesophageal hernia (PEH). Different prosthetic materials have been proposed to bolster hiatus thus theoretically minimizing probability recurrence. The use non-absorbable mesh has reported however, their safety profile questioned because noteworthy mesh-related complication rate. Opposite, absorbable (synthetic and biologic) seems associated mitigated complications comparable recurrence in short- medium-term.

Laparoscopic Paraesophageal Hernia Repair
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Paraesophageal hernias are uncommon yet potentially lethal conditions. Their repair has now been facilitated by laparoscopic technology. We present a series of 20 patients with paraesophageal hernias repaired laparoscopically. METHODS Twenty patients with paraesophageal hernias had laparoscopic repairs. Eighteen patients had primary repair of their hiatal defect. Two ...

Background. The paraesophageal hiatus hernias (PHH) are relatively uncommon, but an increased incidence has been reported and they now account for 5-10% of all hiatus hernias. The surgical treatment is recommended for all the patients with this pathology because of high risk of complications: obstruction, incarceration, strangulation or perforation. The use of prostheses is recommended in the pr...

conclusions the use of absorbable tacks during tapp confers significant benefit regarding the operating time, however it is a disadvantage due to the cost when compared with fibrin glue. results the group of tacks ‘tapp’ showed good results concerning the level of pain, fatigue and foreign body sensation comparable with those of the historical group. there were significant differences concernin...

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair (LPEHR) has been shown to be both safe and efficacious. Compulsory operative steps include reduction of the stomach from the mediastinum, resection of the mediastinal hernia sac, ensuring an appropriate intraabdominal esophageal length, and crural closure. The use of mesh materials in the repair of hiatal hernias remains controversial. Synthe...
